In appropriate situations, a flat fee is an attractive option as you will know exactly how much you will pay for your legal matter. Flat fee arrangements can be billed in instalments, to allow some flexibility with payment.

Our firm offers different fee structures to meet our clients’ needs. Some examples include the following:

Hourly Billing

If you decide to go with this traditional method of billing, you will be charged an hourly rate for all work completed on your matter, and invoiced on a monthly basis. The hourly rate will change depending on the staff member completing the work on your matter.

Flat Fee Arrangement

In appropriate situations, a flat fee is an attractive option as you will know exactly how much you will pay for your legal matter. Flat fee arrangements can be billed in installments, to allow some flexibility with payment.

Contingency Fee Arrangement

Our firm offers Contingency Fee Arrangements in appropriate cases. A Contingency Fee Arrangement means you only pay legal fees if you receive money because you win your case. If you lose your case, you do not pay legal fees, but you may have to pay for other legal expenses. Other legal expenses are called disbursements. These are expenses that we may have to pay on your behalf to third parties for items and services needed to support your case. An example would be a fee charged by a medical clinic for release of your medical records.

A Contingency Fee is calculated as a percentage of the money you would receive, plus HST. The Contingency Fee charged in your case is based on several factors. Such factors taken into consideration when setting the Contingency Fee can include the complexity of your case, how much time may be spent on your case, and the risk that you might not win your case. The maximum Contingency Fee charged on any matter is 30% plus HST.
